Singapore - Ben had always wanted to explore every single part of the world via motorcycle and that’s exactly what he did after getting his licence. He also thought that it looked pretty cool being perched atop one and at the same time his friends also partially influenced his decision to get into riding.
Ben’s first bike was a Yamaha LC 135, which he got while still in school. Then at the age of 23, he bought himself a 2008 Yamaha R1 just as he started working and that’s how he started his extraordinary journey into the world of sports bikes in particular the Yamaha R1.
But before his current 2013 Yamaha R1, Ben also had a BMW HP4 for a short while. However due to Singapore’s COE regulations as well as strict no modification laws, Ben decided to sell away the HP4 and get his current bike, the beast you see here - a 2013 Yamaha R1.
Ben just loves the bike’s iconic headlights, which resemble those of an eagle’s as well as the double under-seat exhausts - a feature unique to the R1. As for performance enhancements, the R1 features a full system SC Project Exhaust, Hyper Pro Steering Dampers, Brembo RCS 19&16 and Pirelli Rosso Cossa II tyres.
As a finishing touch, Ben wrapped the R1 up in a brilliant matte bronze colour that gives the bike a lot of presence. As for future plans, Ben did tell us he plans to invest in a touring bike, probably a Triumph Tiger 800 as its a dream of every biker to own two different styles of bike, a sports bike and a tourer.
Ben also told us his greatest achievement this year was to ride 980km in a day, where he travelled from Singapore to Hatyai in Thailand! His next target will be China, which he plans to travel to with his fellow biker friends at the end of 2019!
