9tro: Could you tell us more about the club?
The club officially started off with a bulletin board civicfd-sg.com on 11 Apr 2007. On 7 Feb 2008, a Facebook page was created for the club as we ride on the social media wave for easier participation and communications.
Over the next 7 years, our membership counts on Facebook increased exponentially so in 2015, we created an online chatroom for all Civic FD owners in Singapore to mingle and share their thoughts in real-time. We have close to 6000 members and at least 200 active members at any one time. We are always looking for ways to ensure everyone gets to know each other and build meaningful relationships; regardless online or in real life.
2: What kind of activities does the club organise or participate in?
Aside from the occasional mini neighborhood kopi sessions, FDClubSG is also a part of the organizing committee as well as participant for large scale automotive events like “A Day for Honda” and Civic Fest 2017 by Automoment. We also partake in mega car/bike meets to showcase our lovely rides as well as mingle with members of other automotive clubs in events like 9tro Alliance Meet as well as 2x4 Fiesta.
9tro: How was this meet-up for you guys?
FDClubSG is honored to participate in this event by Automoment, hosted by Stamford Tyres with participating partners like FALKEN, SIMFAI Solutions and Diecast Toyz Singapore (SGDT). We are thrilled that smaller FD communities within FDClubSG such as FDillusions and Night Kulturez rallied and supported this event given the short notice.
In the course of the event, we experienced highly technological demos from Stamford Tyres mobile workshop services and the latest tyre technology from Falken.
Our members have enjoyed themselves thoroughly and we are extremely grateful to Stamford Tyres for providing us with free tyre checks, tyre rotation, merchandise discounts, goodie bags, lucky draws and best of all, ended the evening with a sumptuous buffet dinner!
9tro: Any last words for our readers, who might want to join you guys?
After 13 years, FDClubSG is a now a huge local car club with an extremely strong social media presence for Civic FD owners to congregate and seek opinions and solutions to any issues they may have for their rides.
Our friendly members are always ready to lend a hand so if you are driving a Civic FD currently, do approach the administrators of facebook page “FD Club SG” and we will gladly bring you on board! We hope to reach out to Civic FD owners of every age in Singapore to join us in our unique automotive club culture that, most importantly, aims to promote safety on the roads with the coolest ride in town. *P.S. We are unlike what the general public call us, Civic Beng. :)
