9tro: How did Mazda Skyactiv Society get started?
MSS was founded in 2016 over a beer. Because Skyactiv was still a new Mazda platform at that time, we thought it would be good to establish a place for fellow car enthusiasts to share their knowledge about the new technology, and to share common issues of this platform and ways to troubleshoot the problems. Of course more importantly, for a select few, who like to mod our rides, we hoped it could be a place to share 'poison' (mods).
9tro: How was this 2019 Meet for you guys?
We felt that it was a great opportunity to mix with peoples with the same interest from other car clubs and for admins we can learn from each other on how we conduct our activities in the club.
We received feedbacks from our members that they felt that this is something special from the usual meetups and they look forward to more events like this.
9tro: Could you tell us more about the club?
Mazda Skyactiv Society have about 30-40 active members who participate in our monthly meet ups the rest is active in our groupchat of about 150 members. It also consist of some ex-owners of Mazda, whom had changed car but still actively come for meetups. We host monthly meetups typically on a Friday evening on different locations & occasional day trips to Malaysia for Ba Kut Teh and Mookata.
9tro: Last but not least, why was the meetup held together with the Vios club?
This is because one of the admin used to drive a Toyota Vios and know the admins of VOGS, so one day we talked about hosting a joint meet up together thus, this event was planned.
