We check out this year's edition of the Singapore Motorshow held at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre.

2016 Singapore Motorshow - Part 1

Following its successful return in 2015, the 2016 Singapore Motorshow saw over 20 new car launches as well as a showcase of stunt driving shows, competitions and entertainment. More than 58,000 people visited the show, held from the 14th till 17th of January at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, surpassing the 52,000 visitors that attended last year.

Organised by Motor Traders Association of Singapore, the floor space at this year’s show was expanded to accommodate a greater number of vehicles. Visitors also got to see a good variety of new models and concept show cars, alongside over 20 new car launches. This year's edition also featured a new section on the 3rd floor dedicated to car parts and accessories, with participants such as Race Flow International and Race Chip.

"We're thrilled at the response to the Singapore Motorshow this year," said Mr. Glenn Tan, President of the Motor Traders Association of Singapore. “The brands have worked together to put on a great exhibition for the people of Singapore and they have responded by turning up in greater numbers than the year before”.

Stunt-driving performances by Russ Swift also made a return this year. Sponsored by Subaru, visitors were thrilled and entertained by Russ Swift’s spot-on hand-brake turns, two-wheeling and other daring stunts. Mr. Tan added added “from the Russ Swift stunt performances to the live radio shows, contests and lucky draws, we are very pleased to see families enjoying the many experiences on offer at the Motorshow".

Throughout the 4-day event, Official Automotive Lubricants - Shell - presented a series of experiential activities to educate visitors on the latest innovation in motor oil, Shell Helix PurePlus and Shell’s VPower Nitro+ premium gasoline. Other giveaways from Shell included special Shell Helix goodie-bags, Shell Helix Ultra gift packs and a 2-hour complimentary car park coupon for Shell Escape members.

2016 Singapore Motorshow - Part 1Visitors to the 2016 Singapore Motorshow also stood a chance to win the new Subaru Impreza by participating in a lucky draw. The Official Bank Sponsors of the Motorshow, HL Bank, were present to extend attractive car financing packages with a loan protector plan, as part of its Auto Finance team’s first anniversary.

Other than financing packages, HL Bank were also selling bottled mineral water, for a meaningful cause. Priced at SG$2 per bottle, the proceeds are to be donated to TOUCH Seniors Activity Centre. The targeted fund raising sum is SGD$30,000, which will be used by TOUCH to run programmes benefiting 790 seniors in 2016.

Exclusive sunshades were also given out by Official Insurer AIG Asia Pacific Insurance ('AIG Singapore') when visitors booked a car with AIG Singapore’s auto dealership partners. Furthermore, car buyers stood to win petrol vouchers worth up to S$500 in an Instant Dip draw.

This year’s show also featured multiple live radio shows from from Official Media Partner Mediacorp such as: The Muttons from Class 95FM with James Seah and Zheng Ge Ping; Y.E.S. 93.3FM by Xie Jia Fa and Lin Pei Fen with Chew Chor Meng; Thomas Ong Live on Y.E.S. 93.3FM; The Bro Code on 987FM; Cai Wei Bin from Y.E.S. 93.3FM with Chen Tian Wen; Tim Oh and Jean Danker of Class 95FM; and Wallace Hong from Love 97.2FM with Kym Ng. Other than live radio broadcasts, Mediacorp also ran its “My Top 5 Picks at the 2016 Singapore Motorshow” contest, where participants stood a chance to win 20 prizes worth SG$100 each.

Supported by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc (JAMA). Mr. Glenn Tan concluded by adding "we will certainly look to build on this year’s momentum for the next edition in 2017".

This all-new BMW 7 Series is a masterpiece built with the highest quality and absolute precision, and is probably the best car ever to be built by BMW.
